Spa La Vie – Mumbai

Our first season of Chef’s Table just came to a fun close. After all that eating, tasting, and interacting, Shirin Mehrotra decided to take a leisurely day off spend some time in the Mediterranean.

Spa La Vie, the luxury Mediterranean spa in a quaint corner of Lower Parel welcomes you with a large green lawn and a vertical garden at the entrance. There’s a sprawling lobby at the reception. While you sift through and pick a therapy, sip on the sour, spicy tea offered. The spa offers a range of therapies including deep tissue massage, shirodhara, hamam etc. There are separate rooms designed according to the demands of the therapy.

The hand and foot therapies are usually conducted in a lounge-like section, which has a small pond and soothing sounds of flowing water. We were informed that the lounge area can also be booked for a private party. So, if you are planning a ladies’ day out we say go for it and spend a spa-ctacular day in luxury.

After a tour of the tastefully designed spa, we settled in a room with mellow lighting, equipped with all the modern amenities to provide a luxurious massage. We opted for a Relaxing Aromachologie massage – a mix of Swedish, Chinese and Balinese massage techniques and an Almond Firming Paste scrub. Just the sound of this sounded like so much fun, we couldn’t wait to get started.

Our therapist described the whole process and after a quick change of clothes, our two hours of bliss began. First, we started with a 60 minutes body scrub. The almond scrub that’s supposed to scrub all the dead skin and gunk out of a city-polluted skin is dually beneficial and it also softens your skin, perfect for the moisture sapping weather, we thought. Post a hot shower; it was time for a massage that focussed on the body’s pressure points to release stress.

At the end of the session, completely relaxed and de-stressed, we simply wanted to curl up on one of the lounge chairs and drift off into a deep sleep. We couldn’t think of a better way for this to turn out.

Therapies: Relaxing Aromachologie Massage (Rs 3,250), Almond Firming Paste Scrub (Rs 3,500)
