With the festive season round the corner, clear your diary for the house parties and get-togethers that will be coming up over the next few weeks. Parties have now become elaborate affairs, going the whole nine yards with butlers, servers and restaurant-quality food. If you’re planning a card party or a birthday, a baby shower or just a fun evening with friends, tap into one of these services. They will bring in the crockery, cutlery and glassware; plan the decor; offer customised menus with innovative dishes; provide valets and bartenders and will even clean up after the party. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy your perfectly organised party.

Crumbs to Gourmet Catering Services

Joel4-001Vancouver-trained Chef Joel D’Souza specialises in Mexican cuisine and brings an international touch to your party. “I would describe my style of food as a modern take on the classics, using the best of ingredients – simple yet flavourful,” says Chef Joel. He started Crumbs to Gourmet in 2012 and caters for parties and events, the crowd ranging from 6 to 60 people. Expect a lot of spicy Mexican fare including Jalapeno jelly, Fish tacos as well as roast chicken and stuffed courgettes, not to mention the Chef’s signature dish – Mesmerising smooth caramel custard. Chef Joel also offers interactive Taco or Fajita bars as well as barbeque stations. Prices start at Rs 500 per head.

Ice Apple Food Services Pvt Ltd

IceApple2-001Chef Aloysius D’Silva (fondly known as Chef Aloo in the food industry) is the driving force behind Ice Apple, ably supported by his wife Firuza Mistry D’Silva and sister-in-law Sonia Mistry who manage the business. The fourth partner Kanwardeep Singh handles finance and HR. Trained in Mumbai and having worked on cruise liners and several countries around the world, Chef D’Silva brings a truly international cuisine to your table.
Ice Apple started about two and a half years ago and offers beautifully plated gourmet food that can be completely customised. “We like to personalise an experience for a client, so we don’t offer set menus,” says Chef Aloysius. Menus are planned after detailed discussions and you can look forward to dishes like Smoked cottage cheese and beetroot Carpaccio, Legumes and Crème fraîche mousse as well as molecular gastronomy experiments like Liquid pizza, innovations like Idli muffins and Theatre of chocolate – a platter with a variety of chocolates. Prices start at Rs 800 per head.

Little Food Co.

LFC3-001Ex-media executive Bhakti Mehta stumbled into gourmet catering quite by accident, when she started catering for friends’ parties. Mehta is a self-taught chef and started Little Food Co. three years ago, which now caters to 150-400 people at events, parties, corporate meetings, store launches etc. “We do several types of cuisines, but it’s Mexican that’s close to my heart,” says Bhakti. Clients can’t get enough of her signature dish, the Thai pani puri, as well as dishes such as Mexican rice, Falafel and Lasagna. LFC’s largest catering event was the opening of Salman Khan’s Being Human store. Mehta has also recently started taking party cooking classes, where you can learn to make party snacks and treats, at Studio Fifteen at Lower Parel. Prices start at Rs 600 per head.

Silverspoon Gourmet

Spoon1-001Husband and wife duo Chef Joshua D’Souza and Neha Manekia started Silverspoon Gourmet in January 2012, after spending several years within the hotel industry. “We saw that there is a gap in the modern European food space so we decided to create something that the city hasn’t seen before,” says Neha. Silverspoon caters to events like brand launches and house parties and there is no minimum requirement. They even do sit-down dinners for two people, with an option of three or five course dinner. Their deconstructed Lasagna is a specialty, as is the Beetroot crepe and the Spanish tapas menu. “We also offer unique services such as a wine sommelier or a cigar connoisseur to do tastings at a party, which is a really fun experience that you can have at a party,” says Neha. Prices start at Rs 850 per head.
