FYI: When Kolkata Jingles Away

There may not be snowfall or giant Christmas trees around, but there always is the fun spirit of Christmas around good food. Shilpa Shah gives you her picks from around town.

What is Christmas without a little celebration? Share this time with those you love most and try a little something new before the world ends.

The Flying Monk
From 21st December until 3rd January 2013, The Flying Monk is serving up a feast from their special Christmas and New Year menu. While the vegetarians can binge on oven-baked asparagus, Dan-min noodles and Mapo tofu, meat lovers can relish scrumptious lamb dumplings, bekti in chilli mustard sauce and Sichuan style chicken. Save space for Christmas cake with Ginseng Blueberry Tea dessert. Yum!

D’oh Boy
Embrace the holiday season with fun colorful sprinkles courtesy all the fun flavours at D’oh Boy. Try the Flirty Berry – a strawberry and dark chocolate doughnut, Rum and Raisin and Berry Strawberry doughnuts made with low-fat sow cream. At Rs 50, it’s a fun treat for friends and family.

Cream & Fudge
December calls for a sweet and colourful celebration of Christmas & New Year’s with sundaes at Rs155. Jump right into the fun with the Jingle Bell Sundae – a chocolate fudge brownie with cream, vanilla, coffee and toffee on top and the Mistletoe Sundae – strawberries, strawberry sauce, vanilla ice cream, cream and mint leaves. All of this Rs 155 each can only mean you’re in for a real treat.

Pizza Corner
Pizza Corner is pulling out all the stops. In fact, they’ve pulled the Christmas tree out of your home and stuck it on a plate just for you. Don’t believe us? Head here and try the Christmas shaped tree pizza (Rs299 plus tax) with basil pesto, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, cheese rolled in parsley. Decorated with garlands of almond slivers and red bell pepper ornaments, we’d like to rock around this tree right away please.

Coffee World
A world without a steaming cup of coffee is too dreary to even think about right now. So, head to Coffee World and melt the blues away with the Snowman coffee. This one is served with a jumbo marshmallow in it and surely puts a smile on our face. The Warming Christmas storm – sweetened cocoa with cinnamon, cardamom, sugar, milk and cream also promises to warm up even the chilliest month of the year.

So, what are you waiting for? Try out these goodies from around town and tell us what you think at www.burrp.com
