Mango season is here and Mumbai restaurateurs are paying homage to the king of fruits in a number of creative ways. Shirin Mehrotra picks five recipes that you must try this season.

Mango martini
Can you eat your martini? Yes, you can if it is made of mango. The bartender at Red Zen, mixes up the drink with some fresh mango puree to give you the flavour of the month shaken, not stirred.

Mango tarts
The chefs at the Taj Lands End have whipped up some of the most mouth watering mango desserts. Apart from mango tarts there is mango sorbet, macaroons, cakes, pastries etc. But the promotion ends on 30th of April so hurry for a taste of this one.

Mango and chocolate mille feuille
While the usual version of mille feuille is composed of puff pastry layered with a filling. Step into this all hours eatery and sink your teeth into chunks of fresh mango between slices of chocolate instead. If you aren’t feeling indulgent, they also have a baked mango yogurt, tiramisu, kulfi, and sorbet .

Indonesian/Filipino sweet mango sticky rice
This Pan Asian restaurant serves up this classic South-East Asian dessert prepared with mangoes and rice soaked together in coconut milk. This mouth-watering dessert is sure to be The mango dish of the season that we can’t get enough of.

Mango Chilli Pomfret
Mango with fish! If this combination looks odd to you, put your palate to the test. Visit the Renaissance Hotel to find out what it’s like. For everyone who would like to try it but can’t make the trip, you can give it a shot at home.

Ingredients
Pomfret 2
Mango 2
Fresh chilies 1
Lime juice 50 ml
Salt 10gms
Pepper 10 gms
Method
• Wash and clean and fillet the pomfret.
• Slit the fillet but make sure that it isn’t separated.
• Marinate the fillets with lime juice and salt, pepper.
• Dice the mangoes and mince the chilies.
• Stuff the filling in to the fillet.
• Grill the piece of fish and serve hot.
